SAILBOAT ENGAGEMENT SESSION // Savannah, Georgia Engagement & Wedding Photographer

A shoot of my dreams - this sailboat engagement session was everything I could have hoped for. Savannah and West are getting married at 700 Wilmington later this year, and I was thrilled when they asked if we could go out on the water around the venue for their engagement photos! They booked us a private charter with Sail Savannah, a local sailboat company, and we rode off into the sunset along the marsh and into the ocean. They toasted to their love with champagne and hung their feet over the water as we jetted past the place where they will get married.

West’s family loves boating so he was pretty familiar with being on the water and definitely had his sea legs! Him and Savannah looked so natural on the edge of the boat, like they could captain it if they wanted to!

I’ll admit, being on the boat itself was scary! I’d never been on a sailboat before and let me tell you, those things really move. I learned that our captain was actually on a fishing boat on the show Deadliest Catch, so I felt a little safer on the calm marsh waters after I learned that fact about him. Still, the way the boat tips sideways can be a little daunting for first timers.

All in all, this golden hour on the water couldn’t have gone better. We were even able to capture some photos on the driveway of 700 Wilmington, and some with the venue itself off in the distance. If you’re thinking of doing a sailboat session, I hope these inspire you to get out on the water!
